CV Axle

cvaxleA CV (constant velocity) axle is similar to a drive axle, but not the same. A CV axle has a CV joint at the end of the axle, which rotates and delivers power to the wheels smoothly and efficiently by allowing the axle to move up and down with the suspension. The grease that lubricates the CV joint is held in place by rubber boots called CV boots. The CV boots can deteriorate or become punctured and allow the grease to escape from the CV joint, eventually leading failure of the CV joint.

A bad CV joint can make noise while turning corners and cause vibrations and steering wheel shimmying while accelerating. If the CV joint or CV axle breaks, your vehicle will no longer receive power to allow it to rotate and move the vehicle. Have your CV axle, CV joints, or CV boots checked by our certified technicians for no cost.
