The color and texture of your transmission fluid can also tell you a lot about the health of your transmission.

healthy transmission fluid Healthy transmission fluid is normally reddish in color, translucent & odorless

Contaminated fluid Transmission fluid that is contaminated with have particles or water in the fluid

Burnt fluid Fluid that is dark in appearance is burnt from overheating

Varnished fluid Fluid that is burnt and has a strong odor has been overheated repeatedly
